The Psychedelic Furs | James at Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino | Reno, Nevada | 8/3/2019 (Concert Review + Photos)

August 4, 2019 by Jason DeBord

“…hopefulness and lifting up and then deep, deep grief and then lifting up… because that seems to be the human experience right now, doesn’t it?”  Tim Booth of James, part of their co-headlining tour across North America with The Psychedelic Furs this summer, with one of their last stops in Reno at the Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino.  When the band first came out on the stage, he commented that they had just changed up their set list in reaction to the news coming out of Texas.  Both bands put on stellar shows and each seemed to have their own respective hardcore fans as the audiences seemed to change up in-between sets.  I really enjoyed seeing James for the first time and The Psychedelic Furs play at one of my favorite venues with a massive stage and stellar lighting.

The Psychedelic Furs & James Announce Summer Co-Headlining Tour Across North America

April 2, 2019 by Jason DeBord

This Summer, The Psychedelic Furs and James will embark on a co-headlining tour across North America from early July through early August.  I’ve been fortunate enough to see The Furs a number of times in recent years (one of my favorite artists to see live) but I’ve never had a chance to see James, who have been to the U.S. much less frequently.  Supporting the tour will be L.A.’s Dear Boy. July 13, 2018 by Jason DeBord

The new tour for 2018 with Psychedelic Furs launches tomorrow at the Pleasantville Music Festival in New York, and then heads west with shows in Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington and Utah through the rest of July.  The English post punk/New Wave band is one of my favorite live acts, and they did not disappoint with their Singles Tour last year.  Definitely one of the tours to catch up with in 2018. The Psychedelic Furs at Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium | Grass Valley, California | 7/23/2017 (Concert Review + Photos)

July 28, 2017 by Jason DeBord

The Psychedelic Furs aren’t too chatty on stage – they just get to work and seem to have an awesome time performing in front of their fans.  This was definitely one of my top shows of the year, and it really just made me want to see them again…  it was that amazing.  The pairing with Robyn Hitchcock was brilliant as well, and I thoroughly enjoyed both sets.  An awesome night of music in Grass Valley by The Center for the Arts.

English post-punk and New Wave band, The Psychedelic Furs, will be completing the U.S. tour that kicked off last month throughout November, with a break in December, and picking back up in January of next year.  With many of their hits being synonymous with 80s pop culture, the band remains one of the best known from that era to turn out for at new concert tours today.  The Lemonheads are touring with the band. The Go-Go’s and The Psychedelic Furs at Mountain Winery | Saratoga, California | 9/30/2012 (Concert Review)

October 1, 2012 by Jason DeBord 3 Comments

The Go-Go’s and the Psychedelic Furs closed out my own personally selected Summer concert series at the always awesome Mountain Winery last night and I can’t imagine a better send off, with two classic and important 80s bands in top form playing their many hits, back to back.  A bit of a contrast in styles (though both bands, in their own ways, were a result of and reaction to the 70s punk movement), it was very much a celebration of the wide ranging and innovation music born during my favorite decade.  The Furs opened with what I would characterize as the best live performance I’ve seen from them, and the Go-Go’s closed it out with a fun and energetic set that felt very warm and personalized for the audience.  A great night hosted by two stellar bands, and I feel fortunate to have had a chance to be part of it.
